Raju was a naughty boy. Although he was intelligent he always scored low marks in Mathematics. The reason was the maths teacher was very strict and beat the children severely if they did not get full marks in their class tests. So one day he decided to play a trick to the teacher. He took an artificial scorpion and placed it on the drawer. When the teacher opened the drawer and saw the scorpion and screamed in fright and then fainted. The headmaster came to the class and arranged for first aid.

The headmaster was very angry when he realized that the students had played a prank to the teacher. He asked, who had done it. When no student came forward the headmaster decided to punish all the students. On hearing this some of the students started crying. Then Raju decided to accept the offense.
Raju told the headmaster that he had done it only because he could not tolerate the beatings of the maths teacher. Although the headmaster was angry with Raju, he was happy that he had spoken the truth.
The headmaster asked Raju to apologize to the maths teacher and warned him. The maths teacher was also called aside by the headmaster and advised, not to punish the children so severely.
ராஜு ஒரு குறுப்புக்கார பையன். அவன் புத்திசாலியாக இருந்தாலும் கணிதத்தில் எப்பொழுதும் குறைவான மதிப்பெண் பெறுவான். காரணம், கணித ஆசிரியர் மிகவும் கண்டிப்பானவர், வகுப்பு தேர்வில் முழு மதிப்பெண்கள் பெறாவிட்டால், குழந்தைகளை கடுமையாக அடிப்பார். எனவே ஒரு நாள் அவன் அந்த ஆசிரியரிடம் ஒரு வித்தையை விளையாட முடிவு செய்தான். அவன் ஒரு செயற்கை தேளை எடுத்து அதை இழுப்பறையில் வைத்தான். ஆசிரியர் இழுப்பறையை திறந்து போது அதில் தேள் இருப்பதைக் கண்டு, பயத்தினால் அலறி மயங்கிவிட்டார். தலைமை ஆசிரியர் வகுப்பிற்கு வந்து முதலுதவிக்கு ஏற்பாடு செய்தார்.
மாணவர்கள் ஆசிரியரிடம் குறும்புதனமாக விளையாடியதை உணர்ந்த தலைமை ஆசிரியர் மிகவும் கோபமடைந்தார். யார் இதை செய்தார்கள் என்று தலைமை ஆசிரியர் கேட்டார். எந்த மாணவரும் முன்வராததால், தலைமை ஆசிரியர் அனைவரையும் தண்டிக்க வேண்டும் என்று முடிவு செய்தார். இதைக் கேட்ட சில மாணவர்கள் அழ ஆரம்பித்தனர். பிறகு ராஜா குற்றத்தை ஒப்புக் கொள்ள முடிவு செய்தான்.
ராஜு தலைமை ஆசிரியரிடம் சென்று கணித ஆசிரியரின் அடிகளை பொறுத்துக் கொள்ள முடியாமல் தான் இப்படி செய்ததாக கூறினான். தலைமை ஆசிரியர் ராஜுவின் மீது கோபமாக இருந்த போதிலும் அவன் உண்மை பேசியதை நினைத்து மகிழ்ச்சியடைந்தார்.
தலைமை ஆசிரியர் ராஜுவை கணித ஆசிரியரிடம் மன்னிப்பு கேட்டுக் படி கூறி, அவனை எச்சரிக்கை செய்து அனுப்பினார். தலைமை ஆசிரியர் கணித ஆசிரியரை தனிமையாய் அழைத்து குழந்தைகளை மிகவும் கடுமையாக தண்டிக்கக் கூடாது என்று அறிவுறுத்தினார்.
