Elephant′s Strength

       Once there were a lot of elephants tied to one place. Somu who went through that way saw those elephants. He astonished to see that only one rope was tied to elephants feet. He thought why the big elephants could not cut the rope and run away from there.

    He asked mahout, there are many possibilities for the elephant to release form the rope but why they didn′t do that? Mahout replied, When these elephants were small, we tied these rope around them. When they are small, these ropes could not easily cut by them when they pull it. Mahout said that elephants thought that they could not cut the rope, when they grow and did not try to cut the rope.

      Somu was surprised to hear that. The mahout then said, these elephants could cut the rope in a minute. But they do not do that. That′s why they are bound to this rope. Like these elephants, many people stopped their trying, when they fail once.

Moral: Failure is the stepping stone to success. 

      ஒரு இடத்தில் யானைகள் நிறைய கட்டப்பட்டிருந்தன. அந்த வழியே போன சோமு யானைகளை பார்த்தபடியே சென்றான். ஒரே ஒரு கயிறு மட்டும் தான் யானைகளின் காலில் கட்டி இருக்கிறது, இவ்வளவு பெரிய உருவம் கொண்ட யானை அதை அறுத்து கொண்டு போகாதா என்று எண்ணி வியந்தான்.

     அருகில் இருந்த பாகனிடம் இந்த யானைகள் கயிற்றை அறுத்து கொண்டு போகாதா என்று கேட்டான். இந்த யானைகள் சிறியதாக இருக்கும்போது இந்த கயிற்றால்தான் கட்டினோம். அப்போது அவை இழுக்கும்போது இந்த கயிறுகள் அறுபடவில்லை. யானைகள் பெரிதாக பெரிதாக தன்னால் கயிற்றை அறுக்க முடியாது என்று எண்ணி கயிற்றை அறுக்க முயற்சி செய்வதில்லை என்று பாகன் சொன்னான்.

   சோமு அதைக் கேட்டு ஆச்சரியப்பட்டான், இந்த யானைகள் ஒரு நிமிடத்தில் இந்த கயிற்றை அறுத்து கொண்டு போகலாம். ஆனால் அவைகள் அதற்கான முயற்சியை செய்வதில்லை. அதனாலேயே அவைகள் கட்டுண்டு கிடக்கின்றன, என்றான். இந்த யானைகளை போலவே மனிதரில் பல பேர் ஒரு முறை தோற்றதும் மீண்டும் முயற்சிக்காமல் துவண்டு போகிறோர்கள், என்று எண்ணினான்.
