One lamb was grazing in the forest. The lamb was thirsty within a while. When looked around, there was a well. There was a staircase inside the well.

It went down slowly through that way. Grazed the green grass and drank the water. Now try to go ahead and climbed up the stairs. The spacing of the stairs was so large and so high that it was impossible to climb. The lamb had fallen off with much effort.
Thinking of its position, it stood inside and screamed. A boy came along that way. The sound of lambs coming from the well fell on the boy′s ear. He looked at the well. When he saw the lamb inside the well, he asked, "How did you jump in?"
"I went down into the well to drink water, but I couldn′t get up again" said lamb. He was saddened by the plight of the Lamb. "Before doing anything, you have to think about that. I can′t help you, However I would go into the village and bring someone to help." On saying this, the boy went to village to bring someone.
Moral of the story : Everything that looks good to the eyes is not good. Be aware of it and act.

ஆட்டுக்குட்டி ஒன்று காட்டில் மேய்ந்து கொண்டு இருந்தது. ஆட்டுக்குட்டிக்கு சிறிது நேரத்தில் தண்ணீர் தாகம் எடுத்தது. சுற்றிப் பார்த்தப்போது கிணறு ஒன்று இருந்தது. கிணற்றின் உள்ளே படி இருந்தது. அதன் வழியே மெதுவாக கீழே இறங்கிவிட்டது. பசுமையான புல்லை மேய்ந்து, தண்ணீரும் குடித்தது. இப்போது மேலே செல்லலாம் என முயற்சி செய்து படிகளில் ஏறப் பார்த்தது. படிகளின் இடைவெளி அதிகமாகவும், உயரமாகவும் இருந்ததால் மேலே ஏற முடியவில்லை. ஆட்டுக்குட்டி மிகவும் முயற்சித்தும் கீழேயே விழுந்து விட்டது.
தன் நிலையை நினைத்து, உள்ளே நின்று கத்திக் கொண்டே இருந்தது. அந்த வழியே ஒரு சிறுவன் வந்தான். கிணற்றுக்குள் இருந்த ஆட்டுக்குட்டி கத்தும் சத்தம் சிறுவனின் காதில் விழுந்தது. கிணற்றில் எட்டிப் பார்த்தான். கிணற்றின் உள்ளே ஆட்டுக்குட்டியைப் பார்த்ததும், 'எப்படி உள்ளே குதித்தாய்?" எனக் கேட்டான்.
'தண்ணீர் குடிக்கத்தான் இப்படி கிணற்றுக்குள் இறங்கினேன். ஆனால், மீண்டும் என்னால் ஏறி வர முடியவில்லை." என்றது. ஆட்டுக்குட்டியின் நிலை கண்டு பரிதாபப்பட்டான். 'எதையும் செய்வதற்கு முன், சிந்தித்துச் செய்யுங்கள். என்னாலும் உனக்கு உதவ முடியாது, இருப்பினும் கிராமத்தினுள் சென்று உதவிக்கு யாரையாவது அழைத்து வருகிறேன்" என்றான். அவ்வாறு கூறிவிட்டு கிராமத்திற்குச் சென்று யாரையாவது அழைத்து வர சென்றான்.
கதையின் கருத்து : கண்களுக்கு பார்த்ததும் அழகாக தோன்றுகின்ற அனைத்தும் நல்லதல்ல. அதைப்பற்றி நன்கு தெரிந்துகொண்டு தான் செயல்பட வேண்டும்.
